Most recently I have been involved in the development and delivery of a Website for the ‘Aftermath Project’. The main focus of my work for this project involved the creation and delivery of the website. The requirements of the job included working on the promotion of the project, through an online emailing campaign. The role required me to provide technical support and web administration for Aftermath, this role involves the management of video and photographic content that is to be added to the website. Further promotion work via email campaigns was carried out to raise awareness of events and exhibitions that were related to the Aftermath Project. In fulfilling this role I coordinated with various artists, speakers and participants from the Aftermath Project to ensure that all communications being sent out conformed to the necessary standards. This is particularly important given the subject matter Aftermath Project deals with.
The placement with Big Top Multimedia was both challenging and rewarding. It furthered knowledge that I already had in the areas of web development, client support, media editing and programming in HTML, CSS, PHP, AJAX, WordPress (WP), WP Themes and WP plug-in integration/programming. I also learned how to network with clients both on and off site, to ensure that their needs were met. Doing this work I was involved in the ongoing maintenance of client websites and ezines. Tasks in the support role, varied from problem solving issues to changing and redesigning websites to meet client requires. Because WordPress is an “off the shelf” solution for managing websites, most of the clients I engaged with required some level of basic training in how to update their websites using WordPress, having assisted in training people in how to use WordPress I was able to further improve my explanation of technology to laypeople and improve my communication skills greatly. The experience of web-based technologies gained at Big Top Multimedia motivated the desire to gain further experience in different areas of the IT industry.

During the summer of 2009 while I was working for Penny’s, I got the opportunity of work experience with Richard Taaffe, a self-employed web designer. From working with Innov8t I gained experience in web design and Search Engine Optimization of websites while also learning about processes of maintaining, and updating of websites for clients after launch.
While working for Epic Marketing I was involved in Marketing and Sales. I gained valuable experience while working with Epic Marketing at equestrian events and industry trade shows. This work involved the sale of client goods and services, as well as marketing of goods to potential customers in order to raise awareness with the general public.
I was assigned the role of product tester for AOL’s Personal Finance web software. The testing involved checking each piece of the product in order to find problems and then I had to note down what happened if an error appeared, reporting the problem to engineers for correction.
Tasks included setting up exhibitions, reception work and sales.
